The next retreat for the St. Peter Chapter will be Semper Fidelis, the study of Pope John Paul the Great's landmark encyclical Evangelium Vitae. Themes covered will be "The Culture of Death", "The Church's Response" and "Towards a Culture of Life."
Eighth Day Jesus Made Himself the Bread of Life and the Hungry One
He proved His love to us by giving His own life, His own being. He being rich became poor for you. He gave himself totally. He died on the Cross. But
before He died He made Himself the Bread of Life to satisfy our hunger for
love, for Him. He said "Unless you eat My Flesh and drink My Blood,
you cannot have
"I thirst" has no meaning unless through total surrender I give all to Jesus.
How easy it is to conquer God! We give ourselves to God, then God is ours; and there is nothing more ours than God. For if we surrender to Him, we shall possess Him as He possesses Himself; that is, we shall live His own life. The money with which God repays
On September 30 my wife and I will celebrate our 10 year wedding
anniversary... Its hard to believe we've made it this far... "but by the
grace of God go I"! As a gift to my wife, and kids, I'm spending the
next 30 days offering up prayers, and sacrifice at Daily Mass, and I'm
calling on others to join me in praying for the vocation of marriage
Check out this video to see what I mean:
Each day parents are faced with issues of our time related to education, the economy, changing social norms and then the big one, dignity of life. As parents it is important to take life’s challenges, show confidence in our Lord (John 16:33) and put issues in “digestible” terms for our children.
I was delighted to stumble upon this video about the restoration and revitalization of my parish church, St. John Cantius in Chicago.
The parish is administered by the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius, a religious order dedicated to the restoration of the sacred art, music, and liturgy of the Church.
It is a fascinating story and can be viewed at the link!
"The U.S. Court of
Appeals for the Ninth Circuit upheld a ruling today that affirms that
religious organizations can hire based on faith. The ruling said that
the humanitarian organization, World Vision, is exempt from 1964 Civil
Rights Act rules on hiring practices because World Vision is
not-for-profit. This is good news for religious non-profits and
ministries everywhere."This
IS a powerful aide in combat of the forces that follow Anti-Christ.
For the next few months we have a little breather… Continue

I sat on the edge of one of the two double beds in our motel room alone. Strangely alone, for four other adults and a dog shared the room with me and since we'd arrived all most of them did was sit and watch the horror of devastation on the TV. Almost as if they were mesmerized bu the images. Images of people in despair, waving desperately at the helicopters that hovered above. Helicopters of hope, with real human heroes inside.
Without looking up he said since he took his mother to church, he felt he desrved a nip. "What church ?" I asked 'The big Catholic one " he replied." You can see the steeple from the motel" "O yea" I said
Then he was gone, with a "later" for a goodbye. I sat back down on the bed and began to try to pray.Little comfort came to me.But the desire for the Eucharist did. I left the room to find the brother of my friend.I found him down by the swimming pool, where he sat quite conten… Continue
Kneeling back at my pew closed my eyes and prayed. Many images flooded through my mind, of Christ, of the Virgin Mary, and many different persons. Many men, women and children of all differentt races and culture spanning history reflected in images of men wearing animal hides with staffs in their hands to people in modern dress. Happy, sad, serious, joyful, contemplating, meditating faces. I peacefully cried, my body trembled , with a deep sigh I opened my eyes looked towards the ceiling, began sm… Continue
I've probably heard the story of the good Samaritan dozens of times in my adult life. Usually I take it as a reminder of my obligation to help those who are in need of some type of physical assistance and give myself a pat on the back for never having left anyone to die on the side of the road and for donating money to those kids starving in far off lands. That being said I was recently listening to a talk where the story was referenced and I was hit with an entirely new perspective... what if t… Continue

This past week I posted on Facebook that I was practicing invisibility. For me invisibility is not a physical thing, it’s a feeling or a state of being. Sometimes, I feel invisible. You know those times when you’re talking to someone and some else walks up and it is as if you’re not there, or you feel alone in a room full of people, just two small

Have you ever looked around the neighborhood as you went to church and felt like you were the only one who seemed to be on the way to church? Kids’ sporting events or family gatherings often seem to be held on Sundays and you ask, “Does no one else realize that people go to church?”
