Hello, my dear friends in Christ:

All of us are blessed to be in a good Catholic site and share the Catholic faith. I would like to introduce to all of you St. Josemaría Escrivá´s spirituality. Escrivá´s teachings have helped me a lot to be a better person, a better Catholic man.

Obviously, one of the priorities of any Catholic person should be to nourish his/her faith. This could be done by all and each one of you using the works of St. Josemaría- These works are easy to find at escrivaworks.org online. The Way, Furrow, Holy Rosary, The Way of the Cross, The Forge, Christ is Passing By, Friends of God, all can be read for free in this website. You may use any of these works for your daily mental prayer. This is the way of nourishing our faith. If we do mental prayer every morning, our life will surely change for the better: it will provide us a better attitude in order to overcome pains, surrows, difficulties, the struggle of life during the day. We will gradually learn to have presence of God throughout the day.

We will be better equipped in order to fight temptations, so to adapt our will to God´s will, so to avoid sin. Let´s remember the universal call to holiness and apostolate.

I would like to have your comments, and/or questions. There are a lot of ideas to be discussed from what I just told you.

YBIC,

Jorge

Jorge,
Thanks I have always been pro-life for as long as I knew what it meant. I hear ppl all the time talking about how they are going to have an abortion, or already have had an abortion. So I along with my friends at standtrue are working hard to liberate this problem!

Msgr. Escriva always encouraged men and women to have a prayerful life- setting up moments within the day when we can reconnect with and refocus on
GOD.This makes a lot of sense to me . To begin my day with a morning offering sets the tone of my life for the day. A visit to the blessed sacrament or saying the rosary helps me to remember GOD when it is getting to be a long day. And then I look forward to evening prayers where I can prepare for the next day..

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

In my life long experience, I have found a great help for being a commited Catholic in the teachings of Opus Dei. These teachings are based on the awesome fact that translates into divine actions the infinite love for each and every one of us.

That fact is divine filiation, which is the Christian´s fundamental state as a daughter or son of God in Christ, a deep awareness of which brings about immense happiness: "Joy comes from knowing we are children of God". So, sanctification is a repayment of love for God´s fatherly love and is the work of the Holy Spirit, Infinite Love, according to Catholic doctrine.

The word asceticism comes from the Greek askesis which means practice, bodily exercise, and more especially, athletic training. The early Christians adopted it to signify the practice of the spiritual things, or spiritual exercises performed for the purpose of acquiring the habits of virtue. Well, St. Josemaría Escrivá, the founder, used to say that Opus Dei is a "smiling asceticism".

I hope to have lively discussions with you about this life changing spirit. I am sure it will help everyone to improve in your Christian walk.

Peace be with you.

YBIC,

Jorge
